Too Many Bad Emotions
2007 - Digital photography and Photoshop 7
2007 - Pencil and chalk
2007 - Colouring pencil and crayon
Three years ago I did a small project focusing on negative emotions such as anger, pain, sadness etc. At the start I intended to paint using realistic skin tones but while researching for this project, I discovered a painting by an artist called Louisa Giffard (found here). I loved her use of loud colours and decided to use some loud colours of my own. I was pleased with how most of these pieces turned out.
First Post - Old Life Drawings
2009 - Charcoal - 2 minutes
2009 - Pencil and Conté crayons - 2 minutes
2009 - Newspaper cuttings - 30 minutes
I find the human body to be an incredibly beautiful thing, and it is one of the more enduring themes in my work. I am still having problems with some aspects though, particularly proportions, but in the next year I plan to shift my focus back onto life drawing.
